The Dallas Cowboys have waived 6 year veteran Tarell Basham. The former 3rd round pic out of Ohio had spent most of the season on injury reserve, returning to the active roster on November 9th. Basham became key rotational player for the Cowboys’ defensive line during the 2021 season, in which he tallied 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and 39 total tackles.

With his injury and the elevated play of Dorance Armstrong and Sam Williams Basham rarely saw the field during 2022 season making him expendable. With Tyron Smith close to being able to return from IR and the possibility of adding Odell Beckham to the roster pending, the Cowboys needed a roster spot and Basham was the odd man out. If he clears waivers there is still a possibility that Basham can end up back with the team on the practice squad.
